"Named after a type of ornate leather slippers, Babouche is a Moroccan/Mediterranean rim restaurant whose best feature is a sumptuous premises that may remind you of a harem or bathhouse.

The food is delicious, the service is extremely pleasant, and the general ambience is very nice. I like the dim lighting, the heavy north-African style of the decoration, and the various arches built into the room. Definitely recommend it for anyone looking to splurge a bit, who wants actual value for the price.

Babouche reminds me of the rich colors of coffee. babouche_noahkalina_com.jpgThe lush color of a chocolaty mocha, or the elegant hues reflected by of a dash of cream. The gold reminds me of the smooth, luxurious taste you get with that first sip of morning java. Ahhhh, almost makes for a great Starbuck’s commercial doesn’t it?

Intricately woven carpets cover the floors and mosaic tiles decorate the walls, while wooden Moorish archways section off the lounge and dining areas of the bi-level space.

Taking inspiration from this Moroccan restaurant, Babouche, with its deep chocolate browns, golds, lush fabric, soft lighting... it's a big space, but doesn't it feel cozy and inviting? This is the desired feeling, right?

Babouche spreads over two levels, the downstairs serving as a lounge, the upstairs as a dining room. On one side of that lounge is a tile mosaic that rises two stories high, creating some visual drama. There are curved arches over windows, throw pillows everywhere, the suggestion of being in a sheik’s tent in the Sahara.

The decor is stunning, and apparently everything you see has been imported straight from Morocco.
Moroccan decor is beautiful and Babouche doesn't disappoint.
